Applications for summer 2025 open now.
Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors can intern to bring vital social connections to older adults. You can develop leadership skills and engage in meaningful programs with older adults, through a variety of intergenerational activities – including discussion groups, home visits, creative arts and tech assistance. This summer, the internship programs will operate in a mixed model, being both in-person and virtual.
Zuckerman Institute’s Brain Research Apprenticeships at Columbia (BRAINYAC)

BRAINYAC program prepares today’s youth to become tomorrow’s scientists. BRAINYAC provides high-schoolers with an immersive, hands-on summer research experience in a Columbia laboratory. We emphasize opportunities to connect with real scientists, learn key skills required to work in a research environment, and become part of the Columbia University community.
Brooklyn Navy Yard
BNYDC’s Internship Program connects college-attending students and college-bound high school seniors to a wide range of paid internship opportunities with businesses in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Sessions are 8-weeks long.

Rockefeller University Summer Neuroscience Program
Application opens early January, deadline mid-March, 2025
The Summer Neuroscience Program (SNP) is a two-week course for NYC public high schoolers led by Rockefeller University graduate students. This is an outreach program designed to provide a basic introduction to the field of Neuroscience and scientific research. Ideal applicants are students eager to engage with science but have not had opportunities to do so through their school curriculum or through extracurriculars.
