BCSTEP Activities
BCSTEP holds workshops on personal money management, the college application process, financial aid and FAFSA, college survival tips, finding scholarships, writing strong college essays, and career options in STEM fields.
Tutoring support is provided to our partner schools and BCSTEP can help pay for programs such as Kaplan SAT Prep, student research, internships, or access to scientific conferences.

Interns received full scholarships to attend Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory DNA Learning Center Science Camp.

BCSTEP hosted a financial aid workshop given by Creative Connections. This workshop helped guide parents & students through the financial aid application process for college, and clarified college award letters. Studnets also attended individual meetings some days later.

College Mentoring Program
A college mentorship program pairing high-achieving former STEP students with highly motivated rising seniors to help them navigate the college process. Topics include the Common, SUNY, and CUNY applications, creating a balanced college list, writing a strong college essay, understanding financial aid, and how to find scholarships and ways to pay for college.
